Pillayarpatti Rock Temple
The temple is located in Pillayarpatti and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Elephant God. This rock-cut temple is a living example of Pandyan architecture. What is awesome about the place is the detailed work of art, beautifully decorated shrines and the enchanting backdrop.
Built in the 10th century, the temple has been built in reverence of Lord Shiva. The best thing about the place is the elaborate use of mural paintings from the 17th and the 19th century. These paintings depict the life incidents of Saint Manickavasagar.
