JODHPUR

Welcome to Jodhpur

Jodhpur – The Sea-Blue City

Jodhpur or the seat of Marwar royalty is one of the most favoured destinations among tourists. The beautiful architectural style, rich ambience swamping you like a time warp and the abundant number of blue-painted houses add on to the glamour of this city. Rao Jodha of the Kanauj family was the visionary founder of the house of Jodhpur in Marwar, the Land of ‘Maroo’ or death, hence named so because of the region’s extremely inimical living conditions. Their first capital was at Mandore, an honour which went to Jodhpur after the Mehrangarh Fort was constructed.

This glorious city has a lot of attractions that are worth exploring. Hence plan carefully to enjoy exploring them.

Mehrangarh Fort

It is a huge and imposing structure, perched atop a hill and looking over the blue façade of the city. Elegant jharokhas and intricate lattice work makes this fort and palace a true masterpiece. There are eight gates leading from the 10 km long rampart separating the old city with the new one.
