Qutab Minar, soaring minaret of 72.5 m hight, a masterpiece of Indo-Muslim art is located in Mehrauli area of New Delhi.
At the foot of minaret is The Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque which is believed to be the first mosque to be built in India.
This 12th century red sand stone and marble structure along with its ruins surrounding it are located inside a well maintained and preserved green park.
The minaret has five storeys, tapering from 15m diameter at the base to 2.5 m at the top. First three storeys are made of red sandstone while fourth and fifth storeys are made of marble and sandstone.
Qutab Minar is easily accessible for wheel chair users as one can cover nearly all the points, thanks to relatively flat surface and helpful ramps.
This monument can be visited throughout the week from sunrise to sunset and is accessible by Delhi metro with closest metro station as Qutab Minar.
